The Gem is a little older then many. We did however have a wonderful experience over all. 1 caveat, was there was a great deal of time to get your food in the "specialty restaurants" average was almost 2 hours to complete a meal. The food was decent but I would stick with the buffets if you value your time.

Entertainment was good, Kids club kept my 12 year happily occupied.

Ports and excursions were good. We enjoyed the Horseshoe bay trip. Don't do the snorkel beach excursion as it's a waste of money. The beach is walking distance from the ship the only thing that you get is a beach chair (big whoop :) )
