We booked this cruise some 10 months before departure and was a little apprehensive reading some of the reports as to the ship being tired and old. We did not find this, yes in places, you had to look, for slight rust on windows, small rubs on furniture, but overall we were more than satisfied. We flew to Venice to embark and took the Venicelink private shuttle to the port, this we found well worth the money, a great way to come into the port with the ships towering above you. Everything was taken care of and they even off loaded the baggage and we never saw it again till it was outside the cabin, rely was and experience. Unfortunately the disembarkation was not the same, again we opted for a private shuttle from the port of Civitavecchia to Rome airport, with a company called Airport Shuttle Italy, They did not arrive on time and after many many phone calls we found that the driver had forgotten his pass to get into the port, how were we supposed to find him, when we were told that they would be at the ships side after disembarkation. After a worrying time we eventually were taken outside the port in a taxi to find the driver. Just a few words about the crew and the cruise overall. We felt that the crew were exceptional, apart from the waiters serving drinks in the many bars. We had cause to complain to the Food and Beverage Manager on one occasion. We were seated in the Constellation Lounge and the bar was due to open at 7pm, we sat there and three bar staff just ignored us, when I went to the bar and asked if we could order, the head bar man said, sorry we have a large party due at 8pm, by the way the time at this point was 7.15pm and he refused to serve us. Other than that we also found waiters in the Martini Bar and Rendezvous Bar not very forthcoming and many times we had to go to the bar and ask for service. It was chalk and Cheese for the other staff, we could not fault them from our table waiters, Charles and Francis to the boys and girls in the buffet, nothing was too much trouble. We even had invites for a sail away on the heli pad, Champagne and music as we sailed out of Naples, a great touch Celebrity. Ports of calls were, Venice, Split, Kotor, Corfu and Naples. Loved most of the ports apart from Naples, weather overall was far too hot for my liking, most days it was over 38/40 degrees.
