We are regular Cunard cruisers and found our Baltic cruise over the last couple of weeks disappointing. Cabin standards and food up to scratch but the entertainment programme left something to be desired. No sign of a Cunard singers & dancers show in the first week and only two shows in the second. We were told the company only boarded with us at Southampton and had to rehearse in the theatre. Sadly their first show looked like they were still rehearsing and some of they costumes looked cheap. Second show was much improved. We didn't appreciate the use of individual artists twice. If you didn't like them the first time you missed another night when they were put on a second time! The speakers programme was also thin, we'd seen a couple of them last year on previous cruises, one speaker had 5 slots in two weeks and on a couple of sea day there wasn't much to choose from. We found ourselves wandering around looking for things to do, which we've never had before. We were also disappointed in the change of the Verandah restaurant to a steakhouse. Although the steaks were fabulous, the sense of a special occasion was lacking without all the additional touches such as 'amuse bouche' between courses and dramatic serving glasses. It also felt that several of the waiting staff were also finding their feet. Hopefully just a blip but can't help feeling costs and corners are being cut.

A little disappointing for a Cunard cruise

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • St. Petersburg
Joined this cruise to see St Petersburg - it was totally worth it! We used ALLA tours, which were just as good as everyone recommended. Getting through Immigration and Customs was no different to anywhere else. People on the streets and at venues were friendly and we didn't feel uncomfortable anywhere. If we go again I would feel very comfortable getting a visa and taking myself off the ship.
