Chose this itinerary for the ports. Highlights were Eze/Monaco having lunch at Chateau Eza, Portofino lunch at Taverna del Marinaio, and trip after cruise to Bergun Switzerland staying at the Kurhaus Bergun. It is part of Swiss Historic Hotels
First day after immediately landing in Rome we took a private tour with Rome- Limousine Tours and Alessandro. He was very reliable and very knowledgeable about his Rome. He is a licensed tour guide and his wealth of knowledge was apparent. We also took a stop for the best espresso ever. Ask him about that. He picked us up from airport and was waiting inside. We then spent 3 or so hours touring Rome. He was very careful where he parked keeping in mind our suitcases. He either parked in a location he knew someone or parked by police stands.
Second day we took our own trip to Isle of Capri. If we were to do again I would immediately get on boat for Blue Grotto and buy those tickets down the port front to the right past the main square landing area. I would also buy tickets for ferry departure to go to Capri before that day. We had to wait in long lines for both things. Highlight of Capri taking funicular up to main Capri and going thru beautiful gardens up top for spectacular views and pictures. Along way we stopped at awesome place for limon ice cream-Cafe Morgano.
Cabin was beautiful. Different way of using “balcony” by clicking button for window up or down vs stepping outside and sitting on veranda. This wasn't a good vs bad thing. It was just different. We ordered room service almost every morning and had breakfast by window prior to leaving ship each morning.
We were in a concierge class room but really didn’t see that it helped us anymore than being in a regular veranda room. We did receive a welcome bottle of champagne and supposedly had priority access to dining. But just rotated thru the four regular dining rooms and they made room for us each time. Loved Winston our cabin steward.
