The Celebrity Constellation delivered an excellent cruise experience in the honored tradition of ancient Greek voyages of exploration.
This marvelous and memorable Greek Isles cruise featured some of the most fascinating and historical sites on the earth to visit--Athens with the stunning Acropolis, Rhodes with the solemn Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights, Santorini with rediscovered ancient Akritori (Atlantis?), Delos with the majestic Terrace of Lions, and Olympia with the remains of the massive temple of Zeus. And the cherry on the top was starting the cruise in romantic, serene, mesmerizing Venice!
Yes, this cruise was selected mainly for this wonderful itinerary, but Celebrity cruise line always delivers with excellent service, comprehensive activities, and tasty meals.
As we were on a shore excursion every day (and yes, I always book the cruise line excursions to be first off and to have guaranteed returns), we had an inside cabin which was very quiet and relaxing after long, busy tours. We also prefer traditional main room dining at a set time so we can have a regular dining time and engage more personally with our servers.
Our room attendant and wait staff were very friendly and provided outstanding service.
The main dining room food variety was very good and usually quite tasty. Lobster, baked Alaska, filet mignon and cherries jubilee were all on our menu. We also preferred going to the dining room on sea days for breakfast and lunch, or the relaxing and lovely spa. The Ocean View cafe was convenient and quick, but usually crowded and a bit hectic.
We enjoyed dressing up for formal nights and taking photos, and made it to the fun Rock and Roll show, Broadway show and the Latino dance party. The two pools and the sun deck areas were always popular and very enjoyable. Shopping was plentiful but the added VAT tax made purchases more onerous. The library was a nice spot and the many children on the cruise seemed well taken care of and entertained in the children's clubs. Our cruise director was quite funny and great. The captain and officers were very courteous and visible throughout the voyage. The passengers were an international mix and many were seasoned travelers.
This was a cruise of a lifetime and Celebrity made the experience a wonderful dream come true!
This forward room on the lowest deck is one of the smallest but provides all amenities for a comfortable, cozy night of sleep. The bathroom was larger than expected, and there was ample storage space. The location was very convenient to elevators and all floors.
Magical and mesmerizing, but expensive and crowded. We booked group tours of the Basilica and the the Doge's Palace in advance so we never had to wait in long lines. We walked to Rialto bridge and shopped galore. Our historic hotel was located near St. Mark's Square. We stayed three nights pre-cruise and one night after, and did not want to leave.
Trogir is a quaint and cute town to visit and has historic walls and cobblestone streets. Unfortunately, we were in Split during a day of afternoon downpours and slow traffic and had to cut our tour short.View All 29 Trogir Walking Tour Reviews
Our tour was nonstop, visiting the Acropolis early, then the air-conditioned Acropolis museum and finally the Plaka. Our tour guide kept us in line and lost no one although we were dealing with a tight schedule, massive crowds and lots to see. This tour required a lot of walking in hot weather, so be prepared!View All 390 Acropolis Reviews
We were first off the ship on the early tender so we arrived in Delos before the crowds. The site is isolated and it is hot, but there is nothing more moving than seeing the Terrace of Lions and recalling the ancient history of Greece while strolling the ruins. After the visit we had plenty of time back in Mykonos to walk around, see the windmills and eat lunch.View All 97 Island of Delos Reviews
We took a somewhat strenuous and busy walking tour to see all of the Old Town and tour the Palace of the Grand Master. The tour guides always provide a wealth of information, almost as if we are in a graduate history class! On our own we also walked to see the (supposed) location of the Colossus and did lots of shopping. Great port!View All 31 Rhodes Old Town Reviews
Our tour covered the whole island in a brief time! First we went to Akritori to see the ancient ruins, then to Oia to see the blue roof houses, and finally back to Thera. On our own we visited the small prehistoric museum to see the detailed murals and also had time to eat lunch and then take the cable car back to the ship. So nice to have the bus transport us all quickly and efficiently.View All 119 Island Tour Reviews
One of our very favorite excursions! In the morning we visited ancient Olympia and walked through all the majestic ruins, and in the afternoon we went to lovely Kourouta Beach for swimming and relaxation. This was a wonderful way to spend the day and experience Greece as both an ancient and modern country.View All 216 Olympia Archeological Tour Reviews
