This was our first River Cruise and one has to remember it's very different from the large liners which we're used to! Cabins smaller, but adequately furnished with well stocked toiletries in the bathroom. Excellent quality linen and towels and comfy bed (far superior than those in the Hilton in Budapest at the end of the cruise). All the staff were wonderful; so polite, friendly, professional - all the positives. In all the service was excellent. A lovely large deck to sit out on and a quiet library at the back. The dining room was light and airy and food very good. The wines and other drinks (especially the Bellinas!) were excellent. A lounge for entertainment which was very good in the evening, in particular the Dancing Quiz - brilliant!!! A tea/coffee etc. station available outside the lounge, not practical for first thing in the morning. As many, or as few tours could be taken as one wishes. If not, sit in peace on the sun deck and relax. A lot of little touches were provided: face towels when arriving back on board, little drinks when arriving late at night in Budapest.

The only downside I can think of was the arrival at Munich for the onward drive to Passu. Left didn't seem to know what the right was doing and we were left hanging around in the airport and outside waiting for the coaches. No one came with us on the coach, hence we weren't told what was going to happen. Relief came when we saw the ship. Also, beforehand our travel agent had been informed by Viking that we may be upgraded to a Verandah suite. Upon looking at the ship, I didn't see any Verandah suites.

I would travel with Viking again, especially if Boris was the Programme Director - he was brilliant. Thank you Viking.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Stateroom with French Balcony

Cabin A

Very clean and lovely Nikolai looked after us very well. Well replenished toiletries. No tea & coffee facilities in the cabin, so take your own travel kettle and mugs (& tea bags). Good views from French Balcony.

Port Reviews

Passau

Did a casual walk on one's own and thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the town and would like to return.

Vienna

Excellent in as far as I could go. The temperature was nearly 100 and after 20 mins, despite enjoying it, knew I had to go back to the ship due to ill health.

Budapest

Lovely city, but the Hilton City was not the best location.
