We arrived in the UK a few days ahead of the cruise, and were able to travel from London to the port of Southampton very easily via train. Once at the Southampton train station, an easy ($10) trip to the port via cab.
We choose this trip due to the various ports of call, (Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Netherlands, and Belgium). While I certainly love big ships, the NCL Spirit reminds me how a smaller ship makes navigating a smaller ship so much quicker! The fact that the ship may not have all the bells and whistles of the newer ships in the fleet wasn’t a deal breaker since we were at so many ports (only 3 sea days in our 14 day sailing) it wasn’t a big impact.
As usual NCL provided a great value as compared to the great service and food on the ship. The entertainment by the cruise performers was, as usual, fantastic. Some of the out side acts were not as great, but still fun to watch. (It’s hard to have knock out performances 14 days!).
The cabins was spacious for two, and the bedding was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean, but showing it’s age a bit (all older tile), but this ship is due to get a major updating soon. Our cabin steward Eddie was fantastic!
