We chose this cruise because we wanted to see all of the Hawaiian Islands and take our son and his family on an amazing family vacation. Having been on several other cruises, the ship was very disappointing. I was told at booking that there were no cabins that would accommodate 7 people so I booked a suite with an adjoining cabin. Upon arrival they wanted to split up my family. Those booked in the suite got extra privileges and the 3 booked in the adjoining cabin were separated off from our party. Until I complained, they didn't even want to let us check-in together. And then, to find out the ship actually had two bedroom family suites that would accommodate 8 .... I was not a happy camper! The spa was very disappointing. Not enough people to make getting appointments very easy. And the service in the dining rooms ,.... Oh, don't get me started. Everywhere I went I wanted to tell people to just smile. At least that would make me feel like you enjoyed your job and wanted to be there.

When I booked the cruise I was told that the kids would be given kids menus in the specialty dining restaurants but I wasn't told that it was the same menu for all of them ... hamburger, hotdog or chicken nuggets. Very embarrassing to ask my grand-daughters to eat that while we were enjoying our meals, especially the Teppenyaki. Shame on me for expecting restaurant appropriate kid menus. like similar options with maybe smaller portions???? AND the upcharge for your kids to eat is $39.95 EACH. They charged us $120.00 plus automatic 18% gratuity for a 6, 8 and 10 year old to eat at the Teppenyaki I will say that the service at Moderno Brazillian Restaurant was excellent and our last night at the Liberty Dining Room was good. Other than that, smile people!! It can't be that bad!! And the time it takes to get served .... crazy long. We actually gave up and started eating at the Aloha Buffet. You just can't get young kids to sit and wait that long to get food in the dining rooms and restaurants.

Because we had a suite, we had a butler for the guests in the suite and she was amazing! She didn't separate us off from each other and took care of all of us. For our kids, it was their first cruise so other than the time it took to get food service in the dining rooms, they thought it was amazing. We booked on NCL because we had been on a cruise on the Getaway last year and had a great time and great experience. This time, not so much! It seemed like the attitude was "hey, it's Hawaii, what more do you want"?

Cabin Review

Penthouse with Large Balcony

Cabin SG

Cabin was clean and loved the large balcony! Our room steward was great and our butler, Gulsom was great. Chris, our suite concierge was very good to work with as well and did everything he could to resolve the issues I was upset about. It was just the overall experience and the ship that I was so disappointed in. I will probably cruise NCL again but would never do a cruise on the Pride of America again and would not recommend it to anyone who had experienced a nicer ship before.
