Trip Details
  • Sail Date: Jun 2019
  • Destination: the Mediterranean
  • Cabin Type: Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

We chose this cruise for the Itinerary that it provided.

A fantastic selection of ports and we loved every one. It was magnificent leaving Venice at dusk. We walked around a number of ports that we had been to in the past Kotor, Dubovnik Santorini and Mykonos and took some private day trips to Messina ( Taormina ) , Naples (Positano and Sorrento) Livorno (Florence )and The Tuscan countryside. Ships tours are too expensive.

We had travelled on the Star so had some idea of the layout of the boat. We travelled with 2 other couples and all found the Jade an ideal size for us. It was a plus that there was an adults only swimming pool and used this after a hot day out.

The Balcony cabin on level 11 ( mini suite) was a really good size and it even had a full bath. It was close to everything and we would willing stay there again.

We ate in 4 specialty restaurants and we mainly breakfasted in the Garden Cafe and often had dinner in the main dining room The Grand Pacific. We booked a number of time slots for dining online before we joined the ship. The food was lovely and served by very friendly and helpful staff. We have absolutely no complaints re food or staff. Our favourite was Le Bistro.

We had the drink package which was excellent value and there is no big shock when you get your final bill on leaving the cruise.

Entertainment was good, we attended 6 concerts and loved Victor Michael.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony
Cabin MA 11052

Loved our cabin, great size, close to everything. No issues.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Argostoli (Kefalonia)

Argostoli was much nicer than we had imagined and lovely to walk around. Again very easy access from the Jade.

We had expected horrendous queues to get up and down to the town via the cable car. This was not to be, it was in reality achieved quite quickly and there was really no queue. There were 2 smaller boats in port at the time. Santorini is beautiful and we have stayed there in the past so were quite content to wander around Thira and enjoy the views with a glass of wine.

Loved Myconos although it has expanded a lot from 1985!! Still just beautiful and we even found the Hotel that we stayed in all those years ago.. Would love to go back.

Taormina (Messina)

We went with a local taxi company to Taormina and Castlemola. Six of us in a very comfortable taxi van. The driver took us to Castlemola for 1 hour and then collected us to go to Taormina where we had 3 hours to look around. A great day and cheaper than ships excursion.

Malta (Valletta)

Wonderful experience. Very picturesque sailing in. We took a hop on hop off bus for what we were told was to be 1 hour. Once on the bus we then found out that it was to be four hours so when we got to Medina we had to get off and get the next bus back to town. Be careful of what you are told by the company. if you are short of time only take the yellow line.

Another private trip with All around Italy to Positano and Sorrento. Beautiful scenery.

Florence (Livorno)

Private tour with All around Italy to Florence and out into the Tuscan countryside. Crazy number of tourists in parts of Florence. Lovely countryside.
