So off we went for our tour and to go to the Buffet for the first night and a few after. We found that the Buffet was seldom open on time, had several of the stations closed or not yet open when they were supposed to, and the food quality was poor at all meals. I know Americans are few and far between on the European cruise, but they could have least attempted to make creamy eggs, cooked and ungreasy bacon and other food items we usually liked in America. The pizza was good down to tolerable but I did not go to Europe to have to eat pizza for most of my meals. Dinner was tolerable and choices dull.
So off we went to our assigned seating in Silver Cloud. We came in at 6, and for the next 1-1/2 hours, the place was at least 3/4 empty; I guess Europeans don't eat early. The food was very good here but we n ever went back because of the long wait and terrible atmosphere at the early seating. We did however, purchase and love the Asian Fushion/Sushi package delightful, but again at the 6 pm seating, were were the ONLY people in the Teppanyaki portion of the package.
In none of the food venues was using hand sanitizer encouraged, and in fact we found dozens of people walking by without using the sanitizer; it will only be a matter of time before this becomes a problem.
The recreation areas were not enjoyable to us. My partner went up to the zip line (after paying) 3 different times and was told it was not available at that time (they were making a promotional movie). We did see 2 shows and loved them. The main outside pool area is really a joke. A 6 ft. small pool, surrounded by at least 20 ft. of 1-1/2" of water (have no idea what this was for). So if an older person wanted to get into the pool, they had only one option - trying to make their way around the people clinging to the sides of the pool and the ladders. Completely wasted space.
The drinks were very good but we had to go down and ask that someone come up and unlock the honor bar. Once done on the 2nd day, we reached for some wine bottles (prevalent in other ships), and found nothing but beer and mostly juice drinks, along with three bottles of hard liquor). On the last full day when we walked for miles and wanted to relax in our room before dinner, we couldn't even get in the honor bar to get our purchased wine out because they had closed already.
The most annoying part of the cruise was that MSC allows people to embarbark/disembark at many ports, so late in the evening you have all kinds of people close to your cabin, clomping about, packing suitcases, slamming drawers and making lots of noise prior to putting their suitcases outside for the night. I will never go on that type of cruise again.
To summarize, MSC builds a gorgeous ship with all the electronic bells and whistles, but it's as though they built the ship and didn't know what to do with it afterwards. Their customer service by most members was smile less and they made us feel like they didn't care whether we were on the ship or not. In the future, we will not be.

Portofino Walking TourCame back from Portofino and tried to get directions and suggestions for downtown Genoa. All we got was keep walking along the water. Very hap hazardous and not pleasant. We turned around, came back and sat and watched and heard MSC's cargo containers being loaded. Not impressed with Genoa.View All 32 Portofino Walking Tour Reviews
