We went on a family cruise to celebrate our 48th Anniversary and husband’s 70th birthday. It was a long way to go for an average cruise. The ship was crowded and people pushed and shoved and constantly. We felt crowded and rushed. The best part of the cruise was our steward. He was a lovely young man who was so caring and polite and attentive. Our cabin was very comfortable and very clean. The buffet on Deck 16 was good.It served dinner only. The buffet on Deck 8 was always noisy and overcrowded. We only ate once in the restaurant Silver Sands. The hot food was cold and service very slow.It was also very noisy. The ship lets off passengers and brings on new passengers at each port so muster has to be done everyday for the new passengers so movement is restricted each time that day for the existing passengers. It was kind of like being on a “bus” run, but on a ship! I will stick with Royal Caribbean and Holland America and pass on MRC.

Cabin Review

Aurea Suite
Cabin S3 13036
The ship is newer, but very congested as it’s so large. The ship tours were expensive and poorly managed. We we’re left behind by our guide in Genoa and by luck found our group as the last of the group were entering a doorway.
The bus was 1 hour late for the Rome excursion and we lost an additional 80 minutes because the bus ride to Rome from the port was that far.We were unceremoniously dumped by the guide at the Vatican and told we had free time for 1 hour. We had no idea what we were looking at as we had never been there before. Thee was trash everywhere and overflowing trash receptacles. We were constantly approached by hawkers selling junk. When we got back on the bus we raced past the other sites as we were obvious going to be late returning to the ship. If it hadn’t been a MRC excursion the ship probably would have left as we were so late returning. Our best trip was to Pisa and our tour guides were excellent.
