We sailed with Celebrity two years ago and enjoyed it, but we were very disappointed this time. The standards had dropped, the food was worse, the entertainment (with the exception of their own singers and dancers) was very poor - Pontins on the sea would be a compliment. They had a magician who they claimed had written tricks for David Copperfield but to be honest this must be a lie, because he was worse than amateurish and his tricks were very dated (floating sphere behind the scarf where you could see him holding the rod in his left hand, the jumping handkerchief where you could see the wire in his mouth etc). The singers were tuneless and not in the least entertaining and their “Grand Finale” on the last night was EXACTLY THE SAME SHOW that we saw on the Eclipse two years previously. They were all about trying to get you to spend more money rather than offering decent things to entertain you (assuming you did not want to participate in childish competitions and such). The menu choice was very limited (unless, of course, you wanted to spend more money going to other restaurants) and the buffet on deck 14 was usually cold (assuming you could actually find somewhere to sit to find that out). We travelled Concierge Class but to be honest there was no benefit to that - the free gift in the cabin was one (not even one each) cheap rubber holder for your Seapass card with an adhesive back which we had no idea what we were supposed to do with, no welcome meal like last time, no extra features, no priority boarding and no point in paying the extra.
