I went on a cruise 30 years ago and couldn't wait to take my husband and go again. This was such a disappointment. I guess when they have no competition, this is what happens. They are the only ship allowed to tour the islands without starting at a port in the mainland. You pay for all food included, then find out that they want you to upgrade and pay more for the decent restaurants. The food in the dining room that is included in your fare is horrible. We are in Hawaii and the chef can't cook fish! I tried 2 different nights and both nights it was mushy and awful. If you want soda, it's extra. The food on my first cruise was amazing and Hawaiian themed. For breakfasts on the previous cruise, there was a buffet with unlimited hawaiian fruits. They had nothing on this one except apples, oranges and pineapples. Milk was not cold, breakfast items not hot. The entertainment on this ship was las vegas and broadway themed. This is not what i'd expect in Hawaii. On the previous cruise, it was all Hawaiian themed. Why would I want a Las Vegas show on Hawaiian cruise? Everything was very generic. I would imagine if you were in Alaska or Europe or Asia, you would get the same cruise. If you want photos taken, they no longer wander the ship and take pics of everyone. You have to go to the photo booth. I can do that anywhere. We tried different dining rooms and the buffet. The food was awful everywhere. Coming back from onshore, we had 3 bottles of water and a bottle of coke. They make you throw all but 1 each away. Seriously? You are forced to buy water from the ship for an exorbitant price. This really upset a lot of people. The greed from this alone will keep me away from Norwegian. The staff was very nice though and I can't say enough good things about our room steward, Cris O. He was amazing. One day I was too sick to leave the boat and he kept checking on us and made me extra towel animals to cheer me up (which they don't do at all anymore). He knew our names and always made sure we had what we needed. He is truly the only good thing we encountered on this ship. It's the best way to get around Hawaii and see several islands in one trip. However, if we were to go back, I'd settle on just visiting one island and skip the cruise. I was so excited to go back and experience the cruise life again, but this really ruined it for me. I am glad we got a balcony though since we could sit out and watch the ocean.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

The cabins were nice. The balcony was a must. It was small, but just perfect to sit out and enjoy the ocean.
