We are in our mid 40's, aren't married and have no kids we have been on about 25 previous cruises on 5 different cruise lines, most of which to the Caribbean. This was our second Celebrity cruise. Our first Celebrity cruise was six years ago on the Summit. We were greeted with a glass of champagne as last time but I notice a couple of Celebrity's other little perks absent such as cold towels when returning from shore and no sorbet parade at the pool on sea days. I'm not sure if these were discontinued fleet wide or if it was just because this was only a four day cruise. This was the second four day cruise we have done; most of our past cruises have been 7-10 days. I was wondering if it would seem too short, but it wasn't. It is also nice to do a shorter cruise over a weekend if you can't take a whole week off work.

We flew American non-stop from MSP to MIA the day prior to sailing. We were offered a first class upgrade upon check in and bought it since the flight is about 3.5 hours. American first class upgrades are about half the price of Delta upgrades. The flight to Miami went smoothly and on time, although once there the walk to the baggage claim was so long and then the wait for luggage even longer. There was signage indicating a train along the D concourse would be available beginning Fall 2010.

I booked one night precruise stay at the Holiday Inn next to Bayside in downtown Miami through Hotwire for about $100. I prefer the Intercontinental next to Bayside, and in the past have been able to book it through Hotwire for about the same price, but it wasn't coming up on Hotwire. For one night the Holiday Inn is fine, the room was clean and the amenities provided were adequate. There is a damp smell that is common in Florida hotels that I don't like at all and was only slightly noticeable at the Holiday Inn. One thing I did notice is that the windows are single pane and let a lot of noise filter in that woke me a few times throughout the night. Our room was ready right when we arrived at about noon, which was nice, probably because we were there on a Wednesday and there was only one ship leaving Port of Miami the next day.

Cabin Review

Cabin 9

#1217

We had a category 9 inside cabin on deck 12. This was the nicest and best organized inside cabin we have ever had. There was plenty of storage space; I could easily find a place for enough stuff for a 12 day Mediterranean cruise. There were three closets, two for hanging garments and one with four shelves and four drawers. There were six drawers in the vanity/desk three on either side and there were two drawers in each bedside cabinet. The feature I loved the best was the storage behind the mirror. The mirror at the dressing table is hinged and behind it are the safe and several shelves for storing the small stuff that can create clutter. The bathroom had a couple shelves and a couple under the counter cabinets as well. The shower was very large; the only space that was small was the areas around the stool. The only storage area that wasn't adequate was under the bed. The bed was very low to the ground so that our garment bag wouldn't fit under it. We were able to store our garment bag in the hanging closet that we didn't need for a short four day cruise. I thought the bed was comfortable, but I didn't like the pillows, vey flat and only one per person.
