Not a cruise person but choose it bc of 4 kids various ages. The ride was super smooth never a bump. Sunsets amazing and cabins were clean and bed very comfortable. There are no coffee makers which was upsetting but free room service for breakfast ONLY. All other room service comes with a fee. The food in American Icon was good not great but what i expected on a cruise.. Not a great ship for food allergies as the gluten free options were slim. The ports were very crowded and very hot. Palma was a waste of time as we did off and on bus and it was packed and scorching hot inside and on top of the bus. We were miserable. Provence we did the petit train (you have to take a taxi to the train) to the Cathedral and it was beautiful our lunch was great and we used google translate to read the menu. For pisa we decided to take the cinque terre train to explore the 5 villages. It was so hot and exhausting for our very active and fit family but beautiful. We had a RC excursion to take us to Rome on the train which was easy and comfortable and then we had purchased a better than skip the the vatican tour. It was TOO crowded at the vatican but the tour was worth it. We hired a private car for the amalfi coast. Very expensive and several of us got very car sick. I wish I would have known about this...we never get car sick so we had no idea this would happen but the roads are very windy. The coast is beyond words...we only got to Positano and Sorrento.
clean and comfortable no coffee maker!!!
hot inside and outside the cathedral...tour guide had heavy accent had to understand
waste of time, hot and misrable
beautiful towns but very crowded and very HOT
tram was easy to get on and took us right to cathedral
we also did better than skip the line which was crowded but necessary to see the Vatican
We never get car sick but on this tour we did....very windy rooms...take dramamine
