Amazing family reunion on the Bliss for our 50th wedding anniversary. A group of 8 adults and 7 children 11 and under. Pros:(with some little cons). Embarkation: Excellent. We arrived about 10:30 am. We had just gone through security when it was announced that we could board. We all went up to the Garden Cafe for lunch. We were told around 12:45 - 1pm that we could go to our cabins and drop things off. Cabins: We had balcony cabins with some of our group having adjoining cabins. Beds were very comfortable. Steward was great. Liked the shower with glass door. Nice size sofa to sit on which could be converted to a bed. One negative would be the very small space between the bed and closet. Also the limited content on the TV. Would like on demand content. Dining: We enjoyed the freestyle dining. We had 3 restaurants to choose from plus the Garden Cafe. We never ate dinner in the Garden Cafe, just lunch and breakfast. We went to one of the main dining rooms.for dinner. We did not have the dining package but ate dinner one night in La Cucina. It is expensive a la carte. We thought the food on the whole was excellent. We actually canceled a reservation at Cagney’s as the food was so good in the complimentary dining rooms. Sometimes the service was very slow but that was more because the servers had too much to do. They had to do everything - serve water, drinks and food. There should be assistant waiters to help as on other cruise lines. Drinks package: Some of our group had the drinks package. Our kids liked the District and the beers there, We were lucky to have good weather and could sit outside. The wine selections were just okay. You could get a better wine and pay the difference. Entertainment: We went to see Havana and Jersey Boys. Both were well done. Booking: Be sure to book whatever specialty dining and shows that you can online ahead of time. Otherwise book when you get onboard otherwise you might be out of luck. Splash Academy: A great program for kids. We had 7 grandchildren ages 11 - 3 and they all enjoyed the kids club. On the last day the kids put on a show in the Bliss theatre. Our adult kids also enjoyed some free time to enjoy the spa etc. This program is free. Staff: The staff were all wonderful. Extremely nice to children. They had ear pieces in to direct traffic in different areas. Cons: Guest services: Not great depending on who you got. I had a charge that needed to be rectified and had to go three times to get it done. Atrium, Deck 6: To me this is a big design flaw. It is a big, noisy area. Not at all appealing. Avoided whenever I could. Disembarkation: Somewhat congested. Final thoughts: We booked this vacation 18 months ahead of time and had been planning for 2 years. I was so happy it went so well. Do not worry too much about what you read online. The Observation Deck was not overly crowded and we had no problem finding seating with 15 of us. The Garden Cafe can get crowded at times but we found it always worked out. In fact everything worked out and we had a wonderful vacation.
