We [myself, wife and our two children] took the Ruby Princess Cruise to Alaska [with Glacier Bay] from Jun 29th thru Jul 6th. I had read reviews of Ruby Princess with 5 and 4 stars as well 1 star, 3 stars. I was worried when I had read 1-star reviews. Our experience was amazing. Here are the details:

Embarkation: I had read reviews on Trip Advisor suggesting that elite, club members and those who have booked Suites and Mini Suites are given preference. Everyone else will have to wait in line for about 2 hours since the Cruise starts at 4pm. We were first timers [no special status] on Princess Cruise. Previously we had taken cruise to Bahamas on Royal Caribbean. We remember waiting for couple of hours in Miami port to get on the Cruise. It was horrible experience. That was in 2010 and now the things might have changed. We reached at 12.33pm to Seattle Pier 91. As soon as we reached, procedure started. We never stood in the line for more than 3 minutes. Line was moving forward quickly and after the passport verification etc., we were in the ship at our room at around 1pm. We proceeded to our rooms.

Rooms: Our [Ocean Balcony] side by side rooms carpet was clean and beautiful. The beds, table, TV, bathroom/toilet and sink were perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed on-demand TV shows with no commercials and HD picture quality. Our side by side rooms ocean balcony had a partition so we used to walk to each other’s room from front door. When our room steward, Joel Bohol saw this on the first day, on his own he asked someone to remove the partition in the balcony. It was such a convenience for us that we enjoyed combined long balcony thoroughly. It is absolutely value to your money when you have ocean balcony.

Port Reviews

Glacier Bay

I would have loved to see snow covered mountains but in the first week of Jul all snow had melted and mountains were barren.

Ketchikan

Very knowledgeable local guide named 'Hungry White Man'.

Skagway

Excellent Guide named Tyler. I was hoping to see wild flowers but none. It is natures fault [sorry] not the tour.

The tour was ok. I would have liked if the horse carriage would have made one stop at the center of the city.

Juneau

Mendenhall Glacier is beautiful

Juneau

Mt Robert is waste of Money.
