We choose this cruise based on 1. Itinerary, 2. date, 3. expense. Meet all our requirements. Compare with other cruise line such as Royal Caribbean, Princess or Carnival, the food choices with MSC is limited, but with the money you saved, you can eat whatever you are missing on the shore and even better.
The cabin is spacious and clean, there is always dancing class going on, the gym is one of the largest I have seen on the cruise ship.
One thing to note about Marseille port, it's a LONG walk to the free shuttle bus, and it's not very enjoyable walk, so take the taxi or cruise ship shuttle out.
I find it strange that from the train station to the ship, you need to take two different shuttle buses, the cruise line bus should just pick up up at the train station.
Took self guided walking tour, very nice view, however the elephant tower and the elevator are both closed.
Took HOHO bus, very easy to find the bus stop and bus was waiting there. Visited the Cathedral, Arab bath, walked in old town and the Belver Castle. They are all unique and beautiful.
Took taxi to the modern part of the town - the city of science and art, and visited the Oceanografic, the largest aquarium in Europe. Very impressive. Had paella lunch in old town Valencia, delicious.
The walk from ship to the free shuttle stop is so long and quite industrial, not very enjoyable, especially under record high temperature. Do not advise you to do it, unless the weather is pleasant. Suggest to take either taxi or cruise line shuttle out.
We took HOHO bus to tour around the city. You can also take the cruise line shuttle to city center, everything is close by there.
