We had done an Alaska cruise 3 years ago and wanted to go back and see the interior parts of Alaska. Both the land portion and cruise were fantastic! Our embarkation was easy since we arrived in Seward around 3:00 in the afternoon. We were immediately shown to our forward suite. The Jewel was renovated and was beautiful. Our suite was very roomy and we certainly enjoyed it but I have to say that I don't care for the wind you get on the balcony. When we were in port or seeing glaciers, it was great! We saw Hubbard and Sawyer Glaciers and they were both beautiful.

We had dinner in Cagney's, LeBistro and Teppanyaki and it is hard to choose which would be the best. All three are excellent! I did notice that the "show" that Teppanyaki usually does while preparing the meal was non existent. Not sure why they cut that out but the food was great! We also visited the buffet once and O'Shehan's once. No complaints at either. Dinner in the main dining room was also very nice. All the food was good as always.

Entertainment was good but not great. I thought Rock You Tonight was the best show we saw. The 45 minutes just flew by and we wanted more! Velvet was okay but didn't seem to have a good flow to it. The comedian, Carl Strong, was very funny and we enjoyed him. Le Cirque Bijou was incredible. My only problem was trying to keep up with all the acts, there were several going on at the same time.

Penthouse with Large Balcony

Cabin SE

The Penthouse suite was very roomy. We had a full sized sofa plus a chair, king size bed, and table and chairs for 4. My only complaint would be that the bathroom had a bathtub with shower. I prefer a walk in shower since we found it a little difficult to step in the tub to take our shower. The suite has a separate dressing table which was nice for sitting down to put on my makeup or dry my hair. The balcony was very large but because we were forward, it was windy and difficult to sit outside when moving.
