Sail Date: Jun 2019

We have recently returned from a 13 night Icelandic cruise from Newcastle on the Magellan and all I can say is wow. This was our 10th cruise and definitely one of the best. I’ve sailed with CMV before, together with Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. The CMV ships can’t complete with the others when it comes to high tech modern features, but neither does they try to. What you get instead is great service, good quality food and drinks and the ability to travel from local ports, which is a major plus point for those of us who don’t live close to Southampton.

The itinerary for this cruise was first rate and we enjoyed all of the ports of call, and Iceland itself is magnificent.

We were blessed with great weather for the entire duration. I’ve heard the seas around Iceland can get a bit rough, even in summer, but we didn’t have any issues. There was one night when travelling around the north that the seas got up a bit, but the Magellan handled it perfectly and we barely felt a thing.

Cabin Review

Cabin interior

Perfectly located midship on deck five, just off reception. It's not plush but was very comfortable and perfectly adequate for the time we spent in it.

Port Reviews

Akureyri

Lovely town. Everything was close ot the ship. We wandered around and visited a museum.

Isafjord

A beauitful little town. We followed the walking route around the bay before coming back through the small town centre. The small brewery located in the harbour is well worth a visit on the way back to the ship for a taste of the local beers.
