We've done river travel with Viking and American Queen, but never ocean cruising. This was a perfect first-time experience, nothing disappointed us about the Star Princess. She is splendidly appointed and has aged well. Shipboard operations were masterfully directed, every imaginable detail accounted for, professionalism manifested throughout. Buffet cuisine was fresh, diverse, ample, palate pleasing, and there were no long lines. There were sightings of whales and dolphins and eagles while we dined in Horizon Court. Horizon was our choice for lounging and catching up on conversation. Cabin care was impeccable. We enjoyed sparkling clean facilities throughout the vessel. Attention to maintaining a healthy environment gets a lot of focus on Star Princess. Service top to bottom was consummately attentive, energetic, and courteous (that matters to us). The serenity of our voyage was complemented by stunning Alaskan summer weather. We booked one excursion, very satisfying, the White Pass Yukon Railway journey out of Skagway. Folks, you don't have to empty your retirement account to take this trip. Embarkation and disembarkation processes were smooth and swift and hassle-free. We loathe confusion and ambiguity and complication. Star Princess is your antidote!

Skagway

Dazzling wilderness vistas, easy departure routine, plenty of rail car room, informative trip narrative, not a tiring journey.
