Chose this ship due to the itinerary and description of its water park. The itinerary was good. Mostly we had chosen non-NCL shore excursions. Food was fairly good. We were disappointed in the entertainment. Unlike other cruises we have taken, including an NCL cruise to Canada last fall, the Breakaway has moved some of its best entertainment to dinner shows that must be reserved and paid extra for. Another good show was free but had to be reserved. There was not a great show every night in the Theatre, something we had come to expect. There were two great dance shows that were free, but one of them had to be reserved in advance. There were brief shows in the dining room, but our grandchildren preferred to eat in the buffet. We tried to go to one of them without the grandchildren, but were seated too far from the performance area to see the performers much. Otherwise there was a Theatre show with 3 comedians, two of whom were not funny at all. There were 2 shows by the same so-so magician. There wasn't nearly enough evening entertainment suitable for children. The kids enjoyed the water slides, but the pool is very small for the size of the ship; the pool area is quite congested and has very few deck chairs with shade. Our balcony cabin was nice and had plenty of storage. The stewards no longer make the towel animals. Perhaps this is to save either time/money or environmental impact, but our grandchildren would have enjoyed those animals.
Cabin was comfortable enough. Had sufficient storage space.
"Chocolate and (Mayan) Culture tour was interesting. Didn't see much but shops at the ships Harvest Caye port. There were activities there; they may have been good.
