Having read reviews, we were a little apprehensive about this cruise (2 weeks around the Med) however it was without any major issues. Most of the comments I found to be untrue on this cruise....there was a great deal of food choice, there was plenty of it, the tables were cleared quickly and the food areas were all kept clean. We had upgraded to a superior deluxe balcony cabin and this was great, the balcony was not huge but enough for 2 people in relaxer chairs. There was a bath with an over head shower and plenty of storage throughout the cabin. It was well kept by the attendant. The lifts did get busy but with 2 sets of stairs, it was never an issue for us (but understand frustrations of those with buggies/wheel chairs or limited mobility). I think the design of the ship was poor however this isn’t an easy fix now We upgraded to ‘The Retreat’ which had large padded sun-loungers, padded settees, food options, unlimited towels and waiter service for drinks. This was a quiet area, offered lots of space and guaranteed a bed so was worth the money. The pool was still only a 30 second walk away so no disadvantage there. Didn’t eat in the specialty restaurants as enjoyed the food in the allocated restaurant. Breakfast choices and quality was good, lunchtime was fine. Tried to use room service for breakfast on a morning going on an excursion but despite a request for as early as possible within the 30 minute window, it arrived 15 minutes late and we had to leave it. Purchased the internet package but it was really poor and kept failing...Receptions advise was just to get a partial refund. This needs addressing, either make it free and advise that it’s poor, or have a better service. Theatre performances were mixed but this is very much personal choice, on board theatre group were good. Without fail, staff would say hello to you. Drinks package was very expensive so we just paid per drink and these were uk prices. Definitely an opportunity here for a price reduction. Overall a very good cruise and we would use P&O again.
