We chose this cruise (Viking Homelands) because it offered us the opportunity to visit each of the Scandinavian countries and St. Petersburg. We arrived two days early to have extra time to explore Stockholm - we could have used more time to do it justice! Note that we did this on our own, not through Viking. It was much less expensive and we stayed at the same hotel. It was a quick 5 minute taxi ride to the ship.At the end of the tour we took the renowned train from Bergen, Norway to Oslo and then stayed an extra day to enjoy the sights.
There was a wide range of excursions and they were all interesting and well organized. All but one of the guides were exceptional.
The ship is well laid out, beautifully designed and immaculately clean. We ate in all the restaurants except the Captain's Table and found each to offer delicious food and an appropriate ambience. We made it to most of the Afternoon Tea gatherings - a nice touch. We especially appreciated that in The Restaurant, we could choose whether we wanted a table alone or one to share. We often chose the option to share a table, as it provided an easy way to meet interesting new people!
Absolutely perfect! Plenty of space with a comfortable couch and one chair and a desk/chair. Lots of counter space and more drawers than we needed. The closet was compact but very adequate.
We explored the Design Museum on our own and found it very worthwhile.
Tour guide did not have the stamina or the temperament needed to manage a tour of 25 people.
Just not much to see.
Lovely to get out of the city and see a small fishing town.
We toured an organic farm and an organic winery. In both cases, we met the owner for an informative talk and then enjoyed samples!
Knowlegeable guide and breathtaking views.
