When we decided we wanted to cruise the Med, the itinerary and price point were very important to us. We have cruised several times before on DCL and Celebrity, however, we wanted to save the money for excursions and extra time in Italy. We chose the 7 night Croatia and Greece cruise to celebrate high school graduations and birthdays. We cruised as a party of 15. Prior to embarkation, we spent 4 days exploring Florence and 1 night in Venice. Loved both of the cities. We arrived at the port around 11:30 am via water taxi and check in was easy. Soon after, we were on deck 4 with our embarkation drinks. We were able to secure our specialty dining reservations for the cruise (we purchased the 3-night dinner package but ended up going the 4th night since the dining room food was not very good) which was handled quickly for our large party. By 1:00, staterooms were ready. We met our cabin attendant, Marilyn, who was exceptional. We always like to give a tip to our attendants on day 1 to show our appreciation to their hard work- they are truly like ninjas- coming into the room, cleaning, and leaving before we get back from a meal. We asked for ice daily and she freshened it twice a day. Dining: The main dining room food was not very good. Sometimes it came out cold, the quality was just OK, and drinks took a very long time to come. We only ate at the main dining room twice for dinner and twice for breakfast. Entertainment and Activities: We loved trivia in Schooners Lounge! So much fun and the bartenders and servers there were fantastic. On sea days, we would have liked to have more activities for the kids and adults. We did participate in wine tasting, which was just OK. On this ship, the rock wall and a tiny arcade was the only thing our 13 yr. old kids enjoyed. The shows were nothing spectacular- reminded me of Las Vegas lounge entertainment. The only show we enjoyed was a "magician- comedian". The ports were great! We really loved seeing this part of the world and took advantage of our excursions. Overall, we had a great time. There were some disappointments along the way, (main dining room, older ship, lack of activities on a sea day) but nothing that would keep us from cruising RCCL again.

Overall good cruise

Cabin Review

Spacious Ocean View Balcony
Cabin 2B 7074
The cabin was fine for our family of 3. Plenty of storage for clothing (attendant brought extra hangers for me). Beds were comfortable, bathroom was adequate, and the balcony is always a must for us. The location on deck 7 was great! Close to everything we needed.

  • Walking Tour
The bus ride from the port to the city was fine, however, we only lasted 5 minutes on the tour before we decided to go our own way and meet the bus later. The walking tour was very slow and with the crowded streets, it was brutal and hot. We loved Dubrovnik and explored on our own, had a great lunch and shopped.

We did just the transfer with RCCL. Our bus left late due to some people not being on time. We only had around 3 hrs. to see the museums, tour the site of the Olympics and have lunch. The recommendation of Royal Carribean for lunch (the Greco Espresso Bar) was terrible. The service was slow, the food came out 1 dish at a time, the food was just OK, and even though we gave ourselves 1 hr. 20 minutes to eat, we almost didn't make the bus. If you take this tour, you will have to decide between just seeing the archeological sites or eating lunch and shopping. There is not enough time to do both and see everything.

  • Speed Boat Tour
We loved this tour. Our party of 11 shared a boat with 2 other couples (1 of which we enjoyed seeing for the remainder of the cruise). The sights from the boat was incredible. We went to the blue cave (didn't swim there because it was crowded with boats and you can just imagine the petrol in the water). We were able to go to a lagoon and swim a bit. Our captain was fabulous. After, we explored the area in Kotor and had lunch. It was very hot so we returned back to the ship by 2:00.

We scheduled a private driver and guide from Santorinitours.org. Being the first of 4 ships into port was key to getting up to Fira via cable car without the crowds. We were on the first tender off the ship and on the first cable car. Our driver met us by the cable cars and our party of 15 enjoyed a Mercedes mini-bus and a custom tour. Our highlights: getting to Oia early!! The place is packed but we were able to explore before the big crowds came. From there, we went to the Venetsantos Winery for a snack and wine tasting overlooking the beautiful sea. We then went to the Black Sand beach and had a wonderful lunch and swam for a bit. Our 6 hr. tour ended at Fira where we shopped. The line for the cable car had to be 2 hrs. long and with a 4:00 last tender, we didn't want to chance to wait in line. We did the horrendous 587 steps down, dodging donkey poo (which broke my heart seeing these mules go up and down in the 90-degree heat) and so much other pedestrian traffic. It was slippery at times, but, in the end, the smart decision to get back to tender. Overall, a beautiful place and one of the greatest times we had at port with our friends.

Just loved Venice. Spent time before the cruise and after just wandering, eating, drinking, etc. Beautiful place.
