Organized a trip (my second to Alaska) for a group of 8 ranging in age from 16 to 80: Two teens, five adults, one senior. This trip was perfect for our family. We found a lot to do together and some alone time. Ship was big, but never felt crowded. We didn't really connect with any staff, but that's not what we were looking for. All the staff was professional and welcoming. Programming had a lot of variety and our family most enjoyed trivia contests and live music. We didn't see any of the show productions and one Carlos Oscar set was enough. In the late evenings, it seemed as if every lounge had a musician playing. Sometimes the adults just wanted a quiet place to sit and talk.
Some of the port times made dining in main dining rooms difficult, so we ate at Horizons (buffet) more than we wanted. If you plan on going out in Victoria, make a dining room reservation.
Our cabins were on Plaza (5) with big picture windows that let in plenty of light. I was worried that it would be stuffy, but it wasn't. Cabin had plenty of storage and a VERY comfortable bed. Shower was small, but great water pressure.
Guides seemed inexperienced, but good wildlife opportunities.
Loved visiting with the dogs and learning about racing.
Beautiful train ride. Perfect for people with mobility issues.
Alaska is great, but Glacier Bay is unbelievable. The best part of any itinerary.
Visited Seattle on our own. Pretty touristy stuff in just a couple days. Loved Chilhuly Gardens. Good lunch at Pike Place Market. We had no problem figuring out bus system.
