We have done many cruises on different cruise line and this was our third NCL cruise. We were looking forward to visiting Cuba, but itinerary changed a few days before sailing. We ended up going to Key West Florida, Freeport and Nassau Bahamas. NCL offered great compensation for the change; 50% off this cruise and next cruise and there was an open bar for everyone the entire cruise! Port Canaveral is the best embarkation/disembarkation process I have experienced. You can drop off your luggage at the ship and park in the garage next door; less than a 5 minute walk. It seemed like the ship was only about 75% full. This is a small older ship with small venues, however you could find great seats for the shows 5 minutes before show time. There was minimal entertainment choices during the day. The performers were not as good as other NCL cruises. Windows in many of the common areas are so scratched up you cannot see out to enjoy the view. We ate in the Seven Seas dining room all but one night. The food quality varied greatly. The barbecue sauce on the ribs was the worst I have ever tasted. The warm bread pudding was served refrigerator cold. The short rib ragu was excellent. We stayed in a balcony room for the first time and we were a little disappointed. The room configuration provides great storage, but the bathroom is very small. The circular shower is the smallest I've seen; 32 inches in diameter! The path at the foot of the bed is too narrow for luggage. You have to lift your luggage over your bed to get it to the other side of the room. We did enjoy the balcony view. There was a plumbing leak inside and outside our room door when we arrived and it was not fixed until the last day of the cruise. After I complained about the soaking wet carpet, they placed large noisy blowers both inside our room and outside the door the entire cruise trying to dry the carpet. There was no offer to move us to another room or any compensation. The staff were very friendly and did a good job. We did no excursions in Key West. We just went to the aquarium which I highly recommend and then had a margarita at Margaritaville. We booked our own excursions on line and we went to Paradise Cove in Freeport. An excellent place to snorkel with turtles and enjoy a day on the beach. We did scuba diving in Nassau with Bahama Divers that was also a lot of fun. I'm sure we will cruise with NCL again but we probably won't pay the extra cost for a balcony room.

Port Reviews

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

This was the best embarkation/disembarkation we have experienced. You can drop off you luggage at the ship and then park in the lot or garage adjacent to the ship; less than a 5 minute walk.

Key West

I recommend a visit to the aquarium. It is small, but has an excellent informative staff. Children will especially enjoy the touch-tank and feeding of the sharks.
