We combined this cruise with return visit to Rome making a nice extra break in early summer.

Civitavecchia port let us down as there were not enough shuttle buses to Jewel for independent travellers. In the late morning queues were huge and we waited two hours. Once on board we felt welcome. We had paid for The Key and the delay meant we missed a special lunch in Chops but they willingly substituted a dinner that evening.

Jewel is not the latest ship with all the bells and whistles but we like the space and the extra nooks and quiet areas to sit and watch the world go by.

Our very first cruise was on Brilliance of the Seas so we knew what to expect. Good storage space, shower with door not curtain, little bit dated in style but well maintained.

We were below the Spa lobby and heard very occasional morning noise from (we suspect) cleaning carts but generally we were undisturbed, near to lifts and only one deck below main activity area. Good view from balcony. Steward also services suites on this deck so knew what is expected
