We wanted to try NCL’s new ship The Bliss for awhile. Last minute decision to go after seeing it in Seattle. Beautiful ship. Embarkation and disembarkation was easy at each port we went to. Very well organized for excursions. We stayed in a Haven Suite on the 10th floor. Room 10706 It had a separate living and dining area. King size pillow top bed was amazing! Huge bathroom with tub and shower. Double sinks. Vanity table and seat. So much closet and drawer space that my husband and I could jot fill it all up. We had 2 large and 2 small suitcases. Multiple backpacks. Hiking gear and 5 or 6 coats. Still had a closet, shelves and 2 or 3 large drawers left open in bedroom. Multiple drawers in living room. Multiple specialty restaurants to choose from. We had the choice of 3 included with our dining plan. The Teppanyaki grill was our favorite. Awesome steak and shrimp. The chef was so entertaining with jokes and tricks. We have been on 5 other ships and their’s does not even compare to this one. Would recommend Cagney’s Steakhouse. The Italian one was just ok. They also have a BBQ restaurant that was really good and has a country band that plays nightly. Jimmy Buffet’s Margarita Ville was great. It cost extra. Chocolate shop and gelato shop was awesome. They also cost extra. Starbucks on board as well. Several shows to choose from. Highly recommend The Jersey Boys and Havana. These are free. There is one called Prohibition that cost $35.00 each but you get multiple alcoholic beverages included throughout the show. Definitely an adult show. Great entertainers. Several comedy shows that were good. One show that covers the Beatles. We didn’t go to this one but heard it was great. The ship has go carts, laser tag, putt putt golf and ping pong. I did the go carts. What a blast. They go 35 mph which felt like a 100. The track is 2 levels. Employees running it were amazing and very concerned that everyone has a safe and fun experience. This was free but make sure you book when you get in the ship. We lucked up and were able to get in the very last day of the cruise. They do run out of reservations for this, laser tag and some of the shows very fast. Spa was beautiful. Even has a snow room. Massage was just ok but I heard other people really bragging on their’s. Would definitely plan a cruise just to be in this ship again.

So much to do!

Cabin Review

Cabin 10706
Amazing!! Large! Living room with lots of storage drawers and coat hangers by door. Bedroom has 2 large closets and multiple large drawers! Huge bathroom. Window forward facing with great view! Has couch in front of this window that you can sit in and see all the views. Balcony is much larger than it looks in photos. Has a little angle to it so you see forward as well as side.
Sat on it when most people couldn’t be on their’s. Had a little section that keeps the wind off.
We have had the owners suite on the Epic and we definitely liked this one better.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Glacier Bay
Not sure if this is called an excursion. We spent the day at Glacier Bay National Park. We all stayed on the ship. A park ranger came aboard and told us all about the glaciers and pointed out so many things. He was announcing over the ship’s speakers and on the TV in the room.
We watched and listened as large sections of the glacier cracked and crumbled into the ocean. Cute sea lion floated by us on an ice burg!
So amazing. The ranger said the only way to the park is by boat or plane so not many people get to see it. It is a National Park. We then passed so many glaciers! They only allow 2 ships a day into the area. Felt like our very own little piece of the park.

  • Mendenhall Glacier
We had originally booked the airboat/helicopter with hike on glacier. It was canceled due to weather.
The ship staff was able to get us on the Mendenhall Glacier/ whale adventure.
First time seeing a glacier was breathtaking. As soon as you exit the bus you can see it. There was an information/ history building you can tour. Wouldn’t recommend. Too crowded and no way to really see stuff. It had a short video on glaciers but you can look that up on line. I would recommend going on the trails to explore. Wish we had had time to go to the waterfall. Time seemed a little short but might have been doable if we had skipped the welcome center.
Bus driver was very entertaining with jokes and great information on the area and glaciers.

Boat has both inside and outside viewing areas. They let you go outside once they have slowed down. We had a buffet waiting on us when we boarded. Clam chowder, salmon dip and vegetables to dip. Cheesecake and cookies.
Saw several humpback whales. At one point there were two mothers with two babies that were breaching. Amazing! Highly recommend this excursion.

A somewhat update school bus picks you up at the pier. Driver told us some history and interesting facts on the way to the lake. Once there you get your life vest and they show you how to safely enter and exit the canoe. Outhouse in the area you get your life jacket. Last chance before the canoe ride.
20 person canoe. All ages. Was a little difficult because no one was really together on paddling. It was quite a distance around the lake. I spent so much time trying not to hit or get hit with the otero paddle it wasn’t an enjoyable canoe trip. Scenery was beautiful. We docked on the bank at one point where our guide got out and showed us some interesting plants. Then we ended up at a dock and got out to walk the short wooden planked trail through the rainforest.
Beautiful 100 year old trees. Large plants I’ve nerves seen anywhere else. They have clam chowder and hot chocolate at a little covered camp site when you get back.
Then back across the lake to the bus that takes you back to the boat.
Ok excursion but wish we had chosen something else.

    Took nighttime tour.
Adults only. Tour guide was extremely funny. Covered a lot of the adult activities that went on when the town was first built. Very educational. Hubby recommend.

  • Butchart Gardens
Tour bus picked us up right at pier. Toured a bit of the city then an hour drive to the gardens. Wonderful driver. Lots of fun information. The gardens were unbelievable. The paths and flowers along the path are lit at night and it was gorgeous. You only have a couple of hours here. We were able to see all the gardens, had a coffee in their little cafe and did some shopping in the gift shop. We did rush through the gardens to see it all. i would love to go back in daytime some time. The tours that went to the gardens got back right at time for the ship to board.
