Just returned from a fabulous 7 day cruise to Grand Cayman, Roatan-Honduras, Belize and Cozumel. The Caribbean Princess is one of the bigger ones and has just been outfitted with Ocean Medallion. The biggest plus for this is the excellent internet service. You can now purchase internet for the entire voyage. It is quick and you don't have to log in and out to save minutes. BUT be sure to purchase on the first day at a greatly reduced price. The ports on this itinerary were excellent - 4 days of non-stop fun. The entertainment on board was fabulous. It was nice to see new shows and entertainers and Princess is really trying to appeal to a younger crowd now with their shows. There was a much younger crown on board than I've previously seen on Princess but there was something for everyone-us slightly older folk and the younger cruisers. I can always count on Princess to deliver a quality experience. Entertainment is one of their specialties with the Voice of the Ocean to culminate a great week of entertainment and game shows/trivia. If there is a choir offered on board, I always join that as it's a great way to meet people. This time you could learn the steel drums and our fellow passengers delivered a really great concert on the final day.
Grand Cayman- port is right downtown George Town. I did the tourist things like going to the Tortolla/Rum factory for tastings (very busy place), visiting the town of Hell and going to the Turtle Farm - I really enjoyed them all. Then I bought a brand watch in town - was very grateful for the Princess discount offered to me.
Roatan-Honduras-this is a beautiful port made specifically by Carnival Corp. I did a dolphin encounter to Anthony's Key Resort. I loved the small group we had and the fact that our dolphins were in a very beautiful, natural setting. They were very healthy and having so much fun with us. The trainer was excellent. It is only an encounter, not a swim though. Water was lovely and warm. Then back at port, I couldn't resist taking the chair lift to Mahogany Bay beach - a man-made beach resort - I enjoyed the ride so much I did it twice. It costs US$14 at the port or US$12 bought through Princess for unlimited rides. Great views as you are taking the 5min ride and right next to the cruise ship. The beach area is noisy though and appeals to a younger crowd. I was so glad to hear that the port area provides lots of jobs for the locals as this is a very poor island and is an eye opener to see. You need to have compassion for the locals.
Even though you have a lifeboat outside the window, you still see plenty above it and the window still lets in plenty of light. If you choose this category on Emerald Deck, this is a great stateroom. Some are fully obstructed but bigger lifeboats - this one is a flat topped lifeboat.
