Norwegian Epic Cruise Review by karen099
- Sail Date: June 2019
- Destination: Western Mediterranean
- Cabin Type: Balcony
Embarkation took less than 15 minutes. We chose the walk off option for disembarkation which took less than 5 minutes to get off the ship at 0830.
Service throughout the ship was very good. Only on a sea day was there a delay at the pool area bar but that is to be expected. It is not like the service is poor, they are simply overwhelmed by the sheer numbers. People just need to be patient! Those bartenders work non stop. Pool area tip- If you are after beer, wine or sangria, the bar in the buffet never had more than 2 people waiting for service.
We enjoyed all of our meals: speciality dining, main dining rooms and snacks at the pub. All of our servers were pleasant and prompt.
The onboard entertainment was very good. Some might find Priscilla a tad offensive. The Epic Beatles were excellent (and also very popular - so go early).
We did not do any ship excursions. We arranged our own port days. Due to circumstances beyond NCL control, we had our stop in Palma Mallorca cancelled.
Normally, I (like many others) don't take the time to leave positive reviews but after all of the negative ones felt the need to so.

Florence (Livorno)We rented a car through Avis at a cost of approx $60 ( Canadian) I used google maps to find a Avis location near the cruise terminal and to our pleasant surprise they were in the terminal when we arrived. We drove to Pisa and Lucca. The driving was easy but finding parking within the walls of Lucca virtually impossible. We ended up finding a lot within a 10 minute walk.View All 1,069 Florence (Livorno) Cruise Port Reviews

Rome (Civitavecchia)This was our embarkation port. We spent 3 days in Rome before taking the train from San Pietro train station for 4.60 Euros. This station is small and far less busy than Terimini. Watch for pick pocketers while boarding the train! Our travelling companion ( a police officer) thwarted an attempt. The women pretended to try and help with his luggage while reaching in his pocket. From Civitavecchis station, it's 2 Euros by bus to the NCL free shuttle. The check in at the port was so fast. Apparently only 1/3 of passengers embark here.View All 2,146 Rome (Civitavecchia) Cruise Port Reviews
