I chose this cruise for the itinerary and the value. We saw a lot of beautiful sights, especially in Norway and the ship's personnel were excellent, especially our room steward. Our cabin was a balcony cabin and we were very pleased with the accommodations. There was ample storage and we loved being able to sit on the couch and look at the view through the sliding glass doors. We also liked being able to step out onto the balcony and take pictures and it was warm enough a couple of the days that we were able to sit on the balcony. The food was good overall with a good selection, but the buffet was always crowded and finding a place to sit was usually a challenge. Most of the time the food on the buffet was not very hot or very cold unless it was something that was made to order like an omelet. We also ate in O'Sheehan's, Taste and Savor. In those restaurants the food was beautifully presented and hot or cold as appropriate for the dish. Overall the service was pretty good in the restaurants, although there was only one time when we we brought teaspoons for our iced tea and we usually had to ask for sweetener. I gave up getting coffee with my dessert as they never arrived together. The cover band Rock the Pour House was excellent and we also enjoyed Million Dollar Quartet and Howl at the Moon. TV selection was very limited with the same programs and movies airing over and over. A little more variety would have been nice since we had so many days at sea. The big downfall of this cruise was the missed ports and the tendering situation. We missed our 1st port because we were 5 hours late leaving dock because supplies were still being loaded on the ship. We also missed Inverness because we could't get into port because of the wind. There was a very small opening into the harbor and it may not have been an appropriate port for such a large ship. Our time of shore was only about half of the time listed in port at Edinburgh and Geiranger because of the tendering. It was an hour round trip to tender at Edinburgh and when we returned (2 1/2 hours before the last tender was scheduled) we had to stand in line for almost 2 hours in order to get on a tender. The size of the ship and the amount of people on board made tendering a nightmare. All the public areas were crowded, especially the entertainment venues and the buffet plus one side of the buffet closed down early even on days when people were late getting back to the ship because of the tendering situation. If I ever go on another cruise I will not go on such a large ship and I will investigate the ports more thoroughly. Cruising is a very economical way to see Scandinavia, but the amount of people on the ship and the rudeness of some of them made the trip very unpleasant at times.

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BB

The cabin was very nicely appointed with enough room for 2 people and plenty of storage.
