I thought my worst cruise ever was on Carnival over spring break years ago, but Norwegian certainly competes with that cruise and will be the first and last time on Norwegian. We have cruised a number of times and were very disappointed with NCL First the GOOD things - The itinerary would have been great except two ports were cancelled (see below) -The cabins were OK, however smaller than most and very tight for 3 people -The wait staff; The waiters and bartenders were very happy, helpful, kind and genuinely wanted you to have a pleasant experience. Many remembered your name as well. -The food in the specialty dining venues was excellent and sometimes in the main dining room as well. Now the BAD/POOR issues. -Guest Services was basically non existent. Tried to call over a dozen times and they never once answered the phone. Visits were just as poor as they have no authority and knowledge to solve issues -Food was average at best and worse in the buffet. Service was slow except our server in the main dining room. Often waited up to 45 minutes for breakfast and lunch and often served cold -Majority of the movies on TV were children's movies, when the average age of people on this cruise was over 63 years old -No port information or maps were ever available nor shore assistance unless you booked one of their extortions (excursions) from the ship -No news briefs provided as other cruise lines -We missed two ports as a result of poor management. The ship was 5 hours late leaving as they were unable to load provisions etc in a timely manner, resulting in missing our first port the next day. We also missed a port in Scotland claiming high winds of 40-5- knots and unable to navigate the port. While I was standing on my balcony with sunshine and little breeze, I checked the marine weather report which said winds were 12-17 knots. I suspect there may have been engine problems as there was a significant diesel smell on decks 5-7 for a few days -Entertainment was very weak. We were not impressed with any main theater venue, however Sid Normans Bar had the best House band ever, which should have been on the main stage Overall this ship is very poorly managed with very poor customer service and trip management. The constant up sell is very annoying, but not unusual for most cruise lines
