Coming previously from the Oasis of the Seas from Royal Carribbean, I had high expectations. Comparing Norwegian to Royal Caribbean, it has left me rating Norwegian as just ok. The food is comparable, not much of a difference on this front - both are great!

The bartenders are WAY better on Royal Caribbean... when you request a single in a tall glass, they will actually give you this. I had multiple occasions where I had to fight with the bartenders on the Breakaway to reduce the amount of alcohol in my drinks, and sometimes to completely remake them. They simply made them way too strong - and this is a common complaint from many fellow cruisers we came across.

When we got to Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas, there was this "tender" process which was a complete nightmare. Luckily we overheard another family in the dining hall talking about signing up for a tender slot and were able to obtain letter E. Which meant we got on the island for around 12:15-12:30 (keep in mind, we arrived at 11). It was absolutely ridiculous that they still have not built a pier for this island and had to load the entire ship onto these tender boats both ways. Other cruisers were furious that we met with this process as 1/3 of their island time was taken up from this process.

Cabin Review

Family Inside Stateroom

Cabin I1

The cabin was what we expected upon arrival. Unfortunately, when I pulled the two bunk beds down to check them out, one of the duvets was not washed from the previous guests. It appeared there was blood on it.... the stateroom attendant apologized - not a huge deal since we weren't using it anyways.

This was the only issue we had with our stateroom attendant, he was great at keeping on top of the room/ towels other than this.

Going into more details about the room...the bed was super uncomfortable which led to a week of terrible sleeping. There was a lack of communication in our section. The toilets were non-operational for a good part of the day, & there was a failure from the cruise ship to let us know this. This led to bathroom use & the inability to flush the toilet - not pleasant. We went to guest service to tell them about this, only to find out that the attendant had informed his supervisor prior to this (but they decided not to let any of our section know). Took quite a few hours for this to be resolved.
