  3. Carnival Conquest
Picked Carnival Conquest after a disaster Caribbean cruise with MSC, wanted to try a new line and 3 new islands for us on this itinerary hit the spot. Embarkation was a total breeze, 30 minutes from shuttle drop off to on board. Very impressed, seems things go a lot quicker if you just turn up at your allotted time. Disembarkation was the opposite, as per usual, delays on getting off made even worse with only 5 officers on customs & immigration for a ship with nearly 3000 passengers! Sail away was destroyed by total idiots at bar that wouldn't attend their muster stations, kept the rest of us waiting on open decks, no air con or drinks. Took best part of an hour and missed sail away. Had inside cabin (1447), plenty of storage space, pretty standard cabin bathroom, looking a bit dated but all very clean. Only thing I disliked, apart from the shower curtain, was the hair dryer, attached to the drawer! What a pain in the neck, literally! If you have long hair, take your own. Cabin attendant was new but did fantastic job, always around when needed. Initially requested your time dining but was given early seating in Monet, quickly rectified by hostess and ate rest of cruise in Renoir, whatever time we went never had to wait. Service was excellent apart from 1 night, when new staff totally messed up. Menus were varied, meats always cooked well and to order. Usually ate breakfast in Monet, omelettes excellent and sea day brunches worth the wait, especially steak & eggs. Buffet pretty manic and didn't like canteen style set out, led to long queues, not ideal if all you want is a few items. Island style lay out would reduce waiting times. Loved the BBQ restaurant, only 3 meats and 3 sides but all done to perfection. Should have stolen some of Guys Brown sugar BBQ sauce, can't get it in UK and it was divine! The Point steakhouse was worth every cent of the $35 cover charge. Amazing huge French onion soup! Hubby couldn't finish his 14oz New York strip, I polished off my perfectly cooked filet mignon but the cheesecake defeated me, huge portion! Pizza Pirate and Guys Burgers were also excellent. Liked the tired sun lounger area around pool. We chose to chill on deck above the adult pool, plenty of room & loungers, right above quieter bar for service and steps away from our daily BBQ fix, perfect! Shows were professionally done, females singers totally blew the males off stage. Didn't want to keep queueing for the comedy shows, so never saw one. Piano bar was manned by Ben Gentry, very funny and quick witted guy. This show got very adult after 11pm, loved it and really missed him on his night off! House band and musicians were all very good. Casino needs to be made No smoking, pretty bad 1st couple of days, probably got used to it after that. Only one moan about activities, not enough quizzes for us. One every morning at 9am but who makes that with an all inclusive drinks package? Made all our ports. Spent nearly 2 hours waiting for tender to ago ashore at Princess Cays and a long wait to return too. Grand Turk beach amazing, although spent too much time at Jack Shacks bar just chatting with other cruisers but no charger for their loungers and escaped the crowds at cruise port. No time for beaches unfortunately in Aruba, too much diamond shopping to do, will rectify that next year! Did island & beach tour on Curacao with Irie tours, booked on line with them, pay on day. Excellent value for money and well timed as most shops closed in Willemstad, labour day. Overall had a great time on Conquest. Did prefer entertainment, activities and entertainment staff on previous NCL cruises but food and service will definitely keep Carnival on my hit list in the future.

Cabin 4A 1447
+ Plenty of wardrobe & storage space. Comfy bed and pillows.
- Hair dryer attached to drawer, low power & heat.
