Norwegian Pearl Cruise Review by cruisingfyra

We chose this cruise for the itinerary and the dates, and also because we have always enjoyed cruising with NCL. We started out our 2 week European cruise with a few nights in Amsterdam before we departed on the cruise ship. We enjoy exploring cities, either before or after our cruises. Just adds another dimension to our trips. The embarkation process was probably the easiest we have encountered! Easy peasy! We were Haven guests so our line was considerably shorter than the standard rooms' line. Our room was clean and bright when we arrived and we soon met our room steward, Jerome, our Butler, Romel and our Concierge, Alex. All of the men were very pleasant and went out of their way to introduce themselves and ask if there was anything we needed. We called on all three men several times throughout our cruise and our requests and questions were always received with a smile. We also spent much of our downtime in the gorgeous Atrium in the Haven, where we could relax, grab a snack, swim or sit in the hot tub. The Assistant Butler, Charina, kept us well fed and catered to our every need while in the Atrium. A very sweet, friendly, professional young lady. We chose to upgrade our dining package to be able to go to specialty restaurants for most nights. The dining rooms were just fine but we enjoy the added attention to detail and ambiance of the specialty restaurants. Cagney's Steakhouse was top notch with amazing food and "sweet Caroline" as our fantastic waitress! Moderno's Brazilian Steakhouse was also excellent with non-stop meat options. As for entertainment, we really didn't go to many shows. We did see the acrobatic couple, they were great. And we saw a very talented young man doing a variety show. Other than that, we hung out at our favorite night spot, Maltings Whiskey Bar with our favorite bartender, Emerson. We never use the ship's excursions, they are just too expensive. We book and manage all of our own excursions and have never had any issues with making back to the boat on time. We even find others to go with us via Cruisecritic.com. We have met so many wonderful people that way, this trip was no exception. As for the ports, there is not enough room to discuss all of them. This was simply an amazing itinerary and we saw the most beautiful places! Some of our highlights would be a food tour in Amsterdam (HungryBirds), Outlander Tour in Inverness (Dave Fyfe with Inverness Tours), City and Causeway tour in Belfast, Ireland, saw the fjords by boat in Flam (Fjordsafari), saw the top of the fjords by tiny electric cars in Geiranger (eMobility) and cable car in Bergen (Ulrikem). We also enjoyed tours of Guiness, Glen Ord and Bushmills. We visited Omaha Beach while in Normandy and the American Cemetery (Overlordtour) Very humbling! Afterwards we visited the most adorable little town of LeHavre, France. There are so many more highlights but these were just a few of our favorites. We have always been fans of NCL and have a difficult time trying any other line. This cruise was no exception. The Haven is well worth the money and if you continue to watch online as the cruise gets closer, you can call them back and ask for a cheaper rate. Happy sailing!
cruisingfyra’s Full Rating Summary
We were in the 2 bedroom suite in the Haven. This is a beautiful room! Huge Master bedroom and bathroom, complete with 2 sinks, soaker tub and large rain shower. There is a second bedroom with its own bathroom. This room is much smaller than the Master bedroom and is meant more for children than adults. It has a pull out couch, which is about the size of a double bed, and a twin flip down bed as well. The couch bed in this room was very hard so we had the room steward bring us 2 egg crate foam pads, which helped a lot. We went with another couple and each took a week in the king sized bed in the Master, which was crazy comfortable! There is a common area between the two bedrooms. Pull out couch, TV, table and chairs for 4, an espresso machine and mini fridge and of course, the balcony. The room has plenty of closet space and 2 safes. We were located just outside the atrium of the Haven. This is a lovely area to swim, sit in the hot tub, read or even take a snooze. If you are a Haven guest, you can get your breakfast or lunch served in the Atrium or cookies and lemon water anytime of the day. Great perk for Haven guests! This is the second time we have stayed in the 2 bedroom suite and it is perfect for families!
