No flights necessary, big plus, love Bermuda and Bar Harbor although temperature spread was alarming. Low 80`s in Bermuda and mid 40`s in Maine.
Coming from Virginia, the southern approach allowed us to take a room on Staten Island's Hilton Garden Inn, included parking and shuttle service to the ship and back. EZPZ, less traffic.
Embarkation was a snap at 11:30 am and the new policy of "drop your luggage in your cabin before lunch" was big hit for all. Our aft cabin was like a spring breeze, colors were shades of grey and light pink, light carpeting and drapes, glass door-ed cupboards and more drawers a plus. Big negative for us, no knobs in room or bathroom. YIKES! Where do you hang robes or coats especially with full closets? Not all the rooms were that way but when I questioned this, the reply was "clean, less cluttering" wrong.
As written above, light & bright although when we return in October I hope it hasn't lost it's luster. Again and important to me, NO HOOKS or knobs, easy to add. Shower seems a lot smaller than S class ships, needs a little more work cleaning the floor too. Aft was our perfect spot, although we were concerned about noise from the bar below on 10, never heard them. Good insulation.
The Tear of Hope built by Russia after 9/11 on the pier is awesome.
It improves each year, more renovations and Clock Tower Mall is good for gifts and local art. This is the first time tourist realize they are not in the Caribbean, quality merchandise and polite shopkeepers
Do buy your bus and ferry tickets earlier in the day or 4ish for the following day. You can pay cash of $5 exact change for St Georges Ferry, Save 50 cent with ticket.
Walked along pier, it was cold and we had been there a few times.
With a 46` low temp that morning, I took a walk closer to noon after the tenders were opened up. It was good to know they had chartered local ferries, much more comfortable and faster to load. May have been possible because several tours had been cancelled due to morning chill and fog. I ate a warming bowl of lobster bisque, Yum!
Renovations had been made along the seawall including a small sitting area with benches, a nice touch.
