We chose this particular sailing because we wanted to have the ease of leaving from San Francisco (again) on a familiar ship and we wanted to visit Hubbard Glacier, which was everything we had hoped for, and Haines, a beautiful little Alaskan town.

We like the Grand Princess even though an older ship because the staff is pleasant and we like the Princess cultural programs and activities such as the Captain's champagne waterfall and Captain's Cocktail Party for previous cruisers. We like the food, the service and often the entertainment--the party band on this cruise was very good (Fee Fee and the Sentiments) and the Naturalist, Tess Juliana, is excellent.

We had a 12th floor aft balcony so it is convenient to the buffet and has a covered balcony. On this trip we had trouble with our room thermostat, but we finally had it completely replaced. We started asking our steward on the second or third day and an electrician came twice. We ended up going to the front desk after several days and a supervisor verified that it needed fixing, then it worked properly.
