Sail Date: May 2019
Cabin: Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

We had sailed on its' sister ship, the Getaway, in October and enjoyed it so the Breakaway seemed like a slam dunk. Unfortunately, the entire middle of the ship smells like an old ashtray, caused by the casino and inadequate ventilation. Going to the buffet for food was like lunchtime on a busy New York street....so we stuck to the specialty restaurants, where possible, so we could enjoy our meals. Debarkation at the Roatan port took forever - one girl even fainted from the heat and crowd- you'd think this was the first port NCL had ever been to. Totally disorganized and chaotic. Similarly, our final debarcation in Miami was an excercise in patience and heat endurance....again, poor organization. I would never select this ship to sail on again, particularly at this time of year with additional children and their free spirit drunken parents. I have never seen so many people pass out on a cruise...seriously! The only totally positive reviews for this ship will come from first time cruisers who love crushing crowds and have zero expectations. That said, the Wine Lovers musical was awesome! The specialty restaurants served great meals and were uncrowded because no one wanted to spend the money...their drink packages were more important to them. Overall...too many people!

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BA

Our cabin turned out to be our refuge from the grossly overcrowded conditions on the ship. We spent many hours on the balcony enjoying the breeze and the ocean...until the neighboring cabin lit up and treated us to their ass-smelling cigs....then they coughed loudly in their cabin for the next two hours. The interior of our cabin was great and had plenty of nooks and crannies to store stuff.

Port Reviews

Harvest Caye

Monkey River excursion...saw howler monkeys, small crocs and lots of birds. Part cruise - part short hike - part speedboat ride. Enjoyed it!

Costa Maya

Stayed on the ship. Too many aggressive vendors in the past. Got to enjoy a few features of the ship we could not get to due to overcrowded conditions.
