Missed out on another sold out business related cruise stopping in Cuba as one of the ports so I decided to do this last minute booked trip solo (paid double for my interior cabin which was midship and near to guest services & all activities) since I did all the research and was intrigued by the Vinales region of Cuba for a day trip. I also needed a mental getaway and break and this was perfect as we also stopped in Key West for a day which was fun!
I spent alot of time watching Youtube videos about the Norwegian Sun and others who have done the Norwegian Cuba Cruise and Vinales. Kudos to Scott Singer Cruises on Youtube as he has entire playlists on this exact cruise ship and itinerary. Great for me so I knew what to expect the entire time, even though it was a joy just experiencing it all myself.
Took the GoPort shuttle from Orlando airport to Port Canaveral which cost $30 roundtrip and was effortless. Reserved & paid online then called to confirm the meeting location was next to Thrifty Car Rental in MCO along with departure time. Staff was helpful and friendly getting everyone lined up to board the bus and loading luggage underneath. Relaxing ride to Port Canaveral.
Midship Interior on the corner near to staircase & elevator banks. Very peaceful and comfortable. Slept like a baby every night. Highly recommend watching Scott Singer on Youtube and also Don's Family Vacation on Youtube. You'll see the ship, the cabins, dining rooms and get a visual sense. My room was comfy and I made sure to hang up my clothes and make myself at home. For safety reasons I recommend always checking to make sure your door is shut tight behind you when leaving. Mine didn't slam shut and I caught it so I made sure to tug at the handle before leaving. I'm very picky and really found nothing to complain about. I did not do the buffet and choose to eat in the dining rooms every time so as to not overeat. The staff treated me like royalty as I sat solo by the window by choice. I ALWAYS ended up having long conversations with people seated around me so I was always socially engaged as I love talking to people and am not shy. If you don't like talking to anyone, you can do that too but everyone is having fun and the staff is always very attentive to your needs.
Walked around Key West for the afternoon and went into Kermit's Key Lime Shoppe. Had chocolate covered Key Lime pie which was to die for! Also had Key Lime soda there and chatted with the friendly staff. That's a must do and they are located across from where the trolley from the ship drops us off. Lots to see and do there in Key West but do not leave without getting your frozen chocolate covered key lime pie!
Super easy to get through terminal and onto ship. Just take empty water bottle since you can't take water through security onto the ship.
