Celebrity Constellation Cruise Review by cachouonacruise
- Sail Date: May 2019
- Destination: Eastern Mediterranean
- Cabin Type: Concierge Class 2
We had no issues with the embarkation and debarkation processes.
Loved our stateroom, its location and perks associated with Concierge Class!
Excellent and dedicated staff, have provided us with an outstanding service quality! We loved the food in the San Marco Dining Room and Oceanview Cafe. The Cruise Director and his staff welcomed us to participate in activities such as safe archery, bean toss, trivia games, bingo, Minute to win it, Deal or no Deal, Silent Disco, Karaoke/Bandeoke in addition to the traditional evening shows. We really had a good time!
We used Celebrity Excursions in Dubrovnik, Chania (Souda) Crete, Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes and Katakolon. All offered comfortable buses, very qualified guides able to explain the history behind the vestiges and for the most part, were very well organized! Santorini with 4 cruise ships in port, was a bit of a let down for us and most of the cruisers we met on our ship: The main reason is the bottle neck created in Fira, requiring all passengers to return to their ship via this single exit « door ». Passengers had to use one of the following 3 options: Cable car ( 30-45 minute chaotic line up,) Descend the 600 steps on the back of a donkey or on foot, on the path used by the donkeys, which was slippery, smelly and involved having to pass directly and unsafely close behind « parked » donkeys. This said, Santorini is and remains a very beautiful island,
In short, we enjoyed a beautiful experience and this trip will remain part of our lifetime memories.

AcropolisOur excursion to the Acropolis met our expectations and more! The history, the beauty and the views were stunning! Our tour included an excellent lunch style buffet stop at Athens Intercontinental Hotel which was excellent!View All 345 Acropolis Reviews
The tour also included some driving through Athens where key points of interest were seen, including a brief stop at the ancient stadium. The drive to Cape Sounion on the twisted coastal road, was a bit long, but very scenic. The Poseidon Temple at Cape Sounion was a nice complement to the Acropolis and offered stunning views from this most southern point of continental Greece

DubrovnikWe loved this visit in the old town of Dubrovnik, done early in the morning to minimize exposure to overcrowding. The fortified walls, small streets, shops restaurants and boutiques were beautiful. The churches were fabulous! Our lunch stop at a National Restaurant located in the countryside was delicious and included a beautiful natural decor. It ended with a short but nice stop in Cavtat! Beautiful little sea side town.View All 13,326 Dubrovnik Cruise Port Reviews

Katakolon (Olympia)This is definitely different from our other ports if calls: flatter terrain, greener, lost of trees, bird signing and fresh scents! The Olympia site is a very interesting experience also! Imagine being able to place your feet on the long piece if marble which was the starting block for the first olympic athletes more than 2700 years ago! Temples and history were also very interesting!View All 13,326 Katakolon (Olympia) Cruise Port Reviews
A stop at the small Olympia village was also very nice!
But a big highlight was the Mezes with Folk Dances! The dancers were joyful, animated and extremely good at involving almost every one in the dances! A moment we will remember! Fun! Fun! Fun!

Island of DelosI have to admit that I had not heard about the Lindos Acropolis before. I found the history of this site very unique. The vestiges offered nice exploring opportunities in addition to providing us spectacular views on the ocean. The tour included time for a stop in Mykonos where we had time to explore the “little Venice” eat lunch at a local Greek restaurant and take a free shuttle bus back to the ship.View All 92 Island of Delos Reviews
RhodesCorrection on information provided for Mykonos port and Delos. (It has been saved and can’t change it)View All 13,326 Rhodes Cruise Port Reviews
I unfortunately confused Delos (accessible from Mykonos) and Lindos (accessible from Rhodes.) My apologies!
Correction from previous post: Delos offered vestiges with a fabulous historical importance taking into account the number of empires that have occupied the island. But, Delos was not an acropolis.
Now back to Rhodes and Lindos! This port was the highlight of our tours, our “coup de coeur”. We had the most fantastic guide, Visited an artisanal pottery chop and the very impressive Lindos Acropolis. As mentioned before, I had not heard about this acropolis and discovered a unique site offering splendid scenic views, history and a very interesting site to explore.
After the tour, we had time to visit the fortified city of Rhodes ( within a 10 minutes walk of the pier) and enjoyed strolling through the city.
Lastly, while touring on the bus, we saw beautiful beaches, waters (free of shark and jelly fish) and resorts.
Rhodes and Lindos definitely generated a desire to return and spend more time!

Pyrgos VillageSantorini is definitely a post card island, well known for its white buildings, blue roofs and splendid views! This is all true and deserve to be seen!View All 14 Pyrgos Village Reviews
Unfortunately, during our visit, we were one of four cruise ships in port, resulting in overcrowding for the villages of this small island; thus reducing the enjoyment experience. But the main issue is the bottle neck descent from Fira to the port where cruise ship shuttles are accessible. Passengers for all cruise ships have to use one of 3 options: Long chaotic line up in the heat ( 30 to 45 minutes, at least), riding down the 600 step stairway on a donkey, or descending the same stairway on foot, which is slippery, smelly, and requires us to walk too close for safety, directly behind “parked” donkeys. One of the passengers on our cruise was injured going down the stairway.
In short, maybe because of the extremely high expectations we had for this port of call, this ended up to be the only one where we came back with a bit of a disappointment.
But this does not change the fact that the island does offer beautiful scenic views!
Doge's PalaceWe really enjoyed this skip the line and early tour of the St-Mark Basilica, Doge’s Palace and going through the Bridge of Sighs! The Venetian history and architecture are fabulous!View All 40 Doge's Palace Reviews
