We started out visiting NYC a couple days before departure around WTC area. Terrible weather but the World Center Hotel was a perfect spot to visit what we wanted to see. On the day of embarkation we took Uber to Jersey port at a cost of $100 for under 10 miles on a Sunday morning. The driver was actually shocked at the fare & said a cab probably would have been cheaper.

At the pier check in was amazingly fast as we were suite guests (Celebrity Suite 6106). As is always the case we were privately escorted to the Retreat Lounge (formally Michaels). During our walk there our first impressions of the Summit’s current overhaul were nothing short of amazed. We had just gotten off the Infinity (a clone sister ship) 6 weeks prior and she is in desperate need of her own refit. To see the “before & after” differences were spectacular.

Checking into 6106 we noticed how bright the interior now was compared to the other Celebrity Suites we have been in over the years. Off shades of white really made the suite much more pleasant than the darker rooms of before. I don’t know how long the white couch will hold up but for now it was like new. There is one extremely weird sized chair in the l/r that is seriously uncomfortable. The bedding was all new as well as was all the deck furniture. A major drawback is they have removed the outdoor table so dining on the veranda is no longer an option. We asked our butler (Carlos) if a lounger could be placed on the veranda & one was delivered with an hour.
