Ruby, we love ya!
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)
First stop, Princess Cays. Loved how clean they keep the island, and how easy it was to get snorkeling gear, clam shell set up and drinks. Could we just vacation on that island?????
St. Thomas - great shopping - Good Friday St. Kitts - colorful, friendly Barbados - closed for Easter Sunday - stayed mostly on the ship St. Lucia - closed for Monday after Easter. Didn't book any tours so we went back to the ship fairly soon. Antigua - Dock area touristy (as are all the ports) walked into town. Lots of photos taken. St. John's Church was interesting More too.
The ship... clean, clean, clean. Beautiful, elegant, yet welcoming. The staff? Superb, friendly, and always ready to answer questions with a pleasant courteous manner. From the Captain (whom we shared an elevator ride with) to the officers, to waitstaff, stewards, bar staff, they all said "Hello" with a smile as they saw us. Ship's store staff were not pressuring, but were helpful. One gentleman in the fragrance/cosmetics shop helped me find a make-up foundation (I forgot mine at the hotel). Perfect match, and I will use that brand from now on.
International Cafe, wonderful idea Princess! Mid-afternoon treat helps keep up any possible flagging energy. Also, a great place to have a late night cappuccino and pastry.
Entertainment was so good it was often difficult to get a seat. Comedians, magic, music and stage acts were all worth seeing.
Meals were delicious, varied and attractively served. We never ate at the Horizon Court, but tried the Caribe Cafe twice and found it to be a pleasant addition to the choices of places to eat.
Movies Under The Stars - loved it. Fairly recent releases. Also liked the warm popcorn and the 9:30 offering of warm cookies and milk.
Easter Sunday the children got to decorate cookies, and the pastry chef (chocolatiers?) made the most amazing huge chocolate Easter eggs. (Would they notice if we smuggled one to our cabin??? Hmmmm)
We had anytime dining and met many interesting people who we appreciated sharing time with. Here is where I would like to make a comment/request: If you start a political topic and no one seems to want to take up the thread, please let the subject drop. We are all there to enjoy our cruise and bringing up strongly held political views about any party or office holder may be contrary to how your table mates feel. Do not assume that their lack of an expressing a differing opinion means that they agree with you and that you should continue to expound upon your views.
Thoroughly enjoyed the cruise, the ship, the people we met and the weather. Thank you Princess for another wonderfully relaxing vacation! Less
Cabin review: BAC219 Balcony
Caribe 219 Forward of the ship. Large balcony, partially covered. Room size adequate (I mean we're not living in it, just sleeping, changing and showering). Little noise. Laundry room convenient to room. Elevator bays close to cabin. Would be happy to have the room again.Read All Balcony (BA) Reviews >>
