The ONLY reason was because friends and relatives (there were 6 of us) traveling together wanted to sail from Vancouver and back to Vancouver and the ship was refurbished in 2018 April. Food quality was below average, that was the main reason we switched to Norwegian since 2008; it got worse after 11 years. Toilet was not working twice during the 7-day cruise. Restaurants did not pay attention to people wearing flip-flops into the dining room. But the worst experience was visiting a jewelry store in Skagway promoted by Princess; the manager at Monarch was very insulting! We told him as soon as we entered the store that we're just browsing, but he kept pushing us to tell him what we were looking for. At the colored diamonds display my sister turned to me and asked me if I thought they were natural, before I even had the chance to answer my sister, he said "you want natural color diamonds, go to a museum" and we decided to leave the store, he continued to say "you want natual color diamonds? Show me the cash and I will open the safe!" Like really? This was reported to the shopping concierge on the ship but I believe that this review would reach more people, avoid Monarch Jewels in Skagway, Alaska!
