We chose to go on the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas 5/19/19 sailing because it was a great deal and we were making up for a really bad cruise experience we had in November (more on that in a second). I'm a teacher and it was difficult to be gone the last week of the school year, but the cruise was worth it! We went on RC's Brilliance of the Seas 5-night cruise in November 2018 but one of my sons came down with a virus on day 2 (he'd picked it up from one of his students BEFORE we got onboard). We self-quarantined him to his cabin. By day 3 he was so sick that my husband or I stayed with him at all times. The medical office was only open a couple of hours early (like 7 - 9 a.m.) each morning and my son was asleep so we didn't see a doctor. He missed all of his excursions. So....his college graduation trip wasn't really a vacation for any of us and we wanted to celebrate and have fun with him; thus, the Liberty 7-night Western Caribbean cruise.

Embarkation was easy. Our rooms weren't ready yet so we went to Windjammer to eat. Staff did a good job of cleaning tables and the manager made the announcement for you to move on if you were finished so others could have a table. Our cabin, 7248, and our sons' cabin 7253 were clean and ready at 1 p.m. as promised. Luggage was late arriving so we had to go to dinner in very casual attire.

One of our favorite things about RC is that their ships are so easy to navigate. There is a direct path down the center of the ship from forward to aft (as long as you remember to go to that deck). They have great signage and interactive wall maps that help too. The ship was beautiful and well-maintained. The freedom class-size ships are perfect. Just big enough to have extra amenities but not too many people. The cabins could use a little update but you're not there much so that's okay. We got the oversized balcony cabin and agree that it was totally worth the price. Our sons had a promenade-view stateroom and it was nice but small. The window seat helps!

Cabin Review

Spacious Ocean View Balcony

Cabin 3B

The cabin was fine. We liked the size of the spacious ocean view balcony cabin. It could use an update on art/decor but otherwise we were pleased. We were also glad that the shower had a real door instead of a curtain.
