This was my 10th cruise - 7th with NCL. The weather was mild and windy. In Civitavecchia there needs to be better signage for the cruise port and where to get the bus from. Be warned that there isn't a lift if you use the railway station! If you walk, take a right and then a left before the tower to the cruise bus. Many people stood in the wrong place until someone went into a shop to ask! if you are taking a cab, they drop you off right outside of the terminal building. Once inside the terminal it is very quick and straightforward.

I thought the ship was just the right size to wander round and had plenty of art and decor to make it attractive and interesting. The Galaxy Lounge is a great observation room and a lovely place to watch the world go by. For dining I preferred the Garden Room MDR because it was smaller and felt more intimate. I ate with 2 friends in Windows one night and we all had stone cold meals. The assistant manager handed us a bottle of red wine without asking our preference as though this was sufficient! I ordered the same meal in the Garden Room and specified that it needed to be hot and the plate and food arrived wonderfully hot! Apart from that particular meal all the rest were fine. I particularly liked Le Bistro because you could see the ocean and the service and food were great. In Cagneys the food was good but the staff seemed to dash around almost falling over each other as they came out of the service door! The Speciality Dining Rooms are a bit cramped compared to larger ships but you soon get over it! The temperature throughout the ship was just right for me.

The swimming pool was also a good temperature and had a deep end which was great. There were virtually no kids on this trip which made for a peaceful cruise.

Cabin OB

I had an oceanview stateroom with a massive, but rather firm bed. I asked for a mattress topper which soon resolved the problem. Yes, the bathroom needs refurbishing but the separate shower had great water pressure. There was a constant gurgling sound from behind the wc which couldn't be heard when the bathroom door was closed. There were no leaks or odious smells! The lamps were fixed to the windowsill so didn't get in the way and there was only one bedside table (facing sideways ) which isn't ideal if there or 2 of you. There was a lakeside scene picture hanging on the wall which was a nice touch. The carpet was bright red, which I liked, but it clashed with the bright yellow sofabed! There were plenty of wooden hangers in the wardrobe together with shelves and drawers for storage. There was also a dressing table and chair and a full length mirror which was very handy.

The position of the stateroom was peaceful and handy for the rear lifts together with quick disembarkation.
