We just got off the Jade TA from NYC to Mediterranean. The ship was a bit small but good. kept very clean, great service. The cabin steward and bartenders were wonderful. Visit Domingo in the Whisky bar - makes the best drinks. Entertainment was ok but you were able to see all the shows. Ports were good. The biggest issue we had was the poor excursions booked thru the ship. Not organized, too expensive for what you got, late getting off the boat, wasted time waiting around. We did three and cancelled the rest after those experiences. Oh and just a note - if you have a terrible excursion you must complain that day or they will not do anything for you. (lesson learned) Of course Norwegian says they are not part of them so they cannot do anything for you. So future if you sail book excursions from outside companies you get a better experience for your money...or less money for that matter. And if you go into a port that your have to be ferried over to port from the boat don't expect to get off for a few hours. It took us three hours to get into port. The experiences from the excursions may have cost them a customer.
Cabin was beautiful - loved the layout. Had plenty of storage and awesome view from balcony.
Ship ran a $15 shuttle to the "center" of town. The port offered a free shuttle. The excursion desk said it would be a 20 to 30 minute walk distance from the free to town. Not the case - we could see the free shuttle stop. We paid waited for 20 minutes for our paid shuttle to come while we watched the free shuttle go back and forth. We got off the boat later waiting for this Shuttle. It was just them squeezing us for more money. Not a lot to see in the town its self - hop on hop off not really worth it.
We stayed in Cadiz and booked the hop on hop off. It was a smaller port but beautiful. Don't book the Hop on Hop off from the ship - so disorganized we got off the boat late waiting and they just got put in line with everyone that exited the ship. We had to wait like everyone else for the tickets so no advange. Love the town and the streets, beautiful by the water nice park. Exceeded my expectations.
We did this on our own, purchased the hop on hop off. The shops don't open early so if you get off right away not much to do so we hired a bike tour and saw some of the inner parts of the town which was beautiful. Clean and friendly. If you want to go into anything book your tickets online in advance cause the lines are long. Too much to see in one day for sure.
we just walked around and took in the sites. Lovely port clean and friendly. Go to the food market it won't disappoint.
The port of Livorno is nothing much to do or see. We thought we would do some shopping at markets or store but not really much. Took Train over to Pisa and took in the sites. More store, food and shopping there. Some others went to Lucca which we didn't but they said it was beautiful.
