April 14 – 29, 2019 in mid-ship balcony cabin D421. We have cruised with Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Celebrity and Holland America. This was our fourth Princess Cruise and first transatlantic cruise.

Advantages: great value, hot shower, very comfy beds, refrigerator, quiet room, excellent selection of movies on the TV and outside for movies under the stars. The thermostat was easy to work. The balcony was pleasant. With the new Medallion class upgrade, the TV has on demand movies and we were able to buy unlimited wi-fi for $130 before departure, a 50% discount. Unlike the Crown Princess which we took in December 2018, the wifi was fast in the cabin. We ate most meals in the buffet. Buffet and dining room were both good; on certain nights the buffet featured foods from Germany, England, Asia, Italy, etc. We ate many breakfasts in the dining room. The food was tasty and the service was prompt. The almond croissants in the coffee shop were great. All the musicians were excellent. Our package included a free dinner at a specialty restaurant which was good, but if we had to pay we would not have gone to a specialty restaurant. Unlike the Crown Princess, the gym was open at 6 am and was not built over any cabins, so all treadmills could be used. On Easter, they had giants decorated eggs in the atrium and in the buffet. The lectures about the ports of call and the Titanic were informative. We took a Princess excursion in the Azores which was worthwhile.

Disadvantages: not enough gluten free items in buffet. The show with the pianist playing songs from different countries was lame. We did not attend any other shows. As the weather got colder, it was silly of them to show movies outside. The balcony door was not airtight when closed so cold air did leak into the cabin. Ship did not stop in Le Havre so that we could visit Normandy.
