Family Cruise with Children ages 26 to 15(5Kids) along with wife's Mother and Father and my father. We tried to make dinner reservations on Fri/Sat and Tues night for the Freestyle dining room for 7pm and were told they do not take reservations for that many between 5 and 7. My Father who is 90 and in a scooter was told he could take his scooter off the ship in Bermuda even though we took it off the previous day. We took it and when we came back security told him he had to walk through security, which he couldn't. The day we arrived the room housekeeper said she showed no one being in our room for the cruise. We went to the Irish restaurant for lunch one day I got there 10 minutes early and they seated me by the window for 11 people, the mgr came over and told I could not sit there unless all 11 people were there because someone else may come in and want the window table. The restaurant was empty and no one in line to come in. Food was cold in the dining room(magenta) Very unfriendly service all around. I have been on Norwegian a few times and was very surprised. Seems like things have gone down hill when it comes to service. In the past when we embarked the cruise lines including Norwegian always had a large amount of staff greeting us, servers offering drinks, music playing. Not this time, there was 1 person as you got on the ship. No music nothing very blah. The Wednesday we were at sea all day they closed the pools for maintenance, people were not happy. It was reopened Thursday but by then we were further North and too cool to swim. The basketball court and rock climbing wall were open very limited hours 5-7pm one day. They had a family dodge ball tournament one day from 5 to 530pm-- not much time for a game. I not consider going on the Norwegian Gem again. I was on a Carnival Cruise last year and it was outstanding.
