  3. Grand Princess
45 trips with Princess, and the food was not as good as any of our previous cruises. The last show was very good, but the rest were old and older. Met an officer and we talked about the cruise and told him of our thoughts about the food. He said the home office had cut costs for food to a level where the ship could not buy as much as they wanted. I told him we were on the Caribbean Princess in Jan.and that ship was super. He said there had been a problem two years ago, and the company had 4 new production shows on that ship as well as the largest food expense per person in the fleet, trying to bring the ship up to a proper level in the public eye.The Grand needs work! The main show-room had a problem. The center section (where we sat) had water landing on the seats from above. They said they knew about it but nothing seemed to change. As usual, the crew was always very friendly and helpful and we even recognized some of the crew from previous cruises. We both did a lot of reading and enjoyed meeting and talking to a lot of interesting and knowledgeable people from many walks of life. The wait staff did the best they could under the circumstances, but believe it or not, we both lost weight on this cruise!! So much for the food! Since we have taken this cruise several times we only did one shore excursion and had a wonderful day in in Maui. We have always felt that Princess gives the passenger the best value for the buck and we will use them again but we do not intend to go cruising on the Grand Princess any time soon.
